Domain questions, answered

How fast is a new registration active?

Instantly. The domain is registered the moment your payment completes, and DNS management is available right away in your client area. New domains can take up to 24–48 hours to resolve everywhere (DNS propagation).

Who can register a .ca domain?

.ca domains are managed by CIRA and require Canadian presence — citizens, permanent residents, Canadian businesses, trademarks registered in Canada and a few other categories. You confirm your eligibility category during checkout.

Is the first-year sale price the ongoing price?

No — sale prices apply to the first year of a new registration. Every sale card and table row shows the renewal price right beside it, so you always know the long-term cost before you buy.

What happens if my domain expires?

Most extensions have a grace period (typically 30–45 days) where you can renew at the normal price. After that, many enter a redemption period where the registry charges a significantly higher restore fee — so keep auto-renew on and your contact email current.

How long does a transfer take, and does my site go down?

Transfers usually complete in 5–7 days. Your website and email keep working during the transfer as long as you don't change nameservers — DNS settings carry over.

Is WHOIS privacy really free?

Yes. Where the registry allows it, WHOIS privacy is included at no charge for the life of the domain — your personal contact details stay out of the public WHOIS database.
